As health care providers strive to maintain the workforce needed to carry out their mission, Iroquois has taken an active role in addressing the recruitment challenges facing them.
In August of 2004, Iroquois launched the "Health Care: Get Into It! You'll Get So Much Out of It" campaign to promote health care careers. The "Get Into It" campaign has been successful in raising awareness of health career opportunities, particularly among youth. With over 430,000 hits since its launch, www.getintohealthcare.com continues to be a resource for recruiters, educators, students, parents, and prospective health care workers.
In addition to the web site, the multimedia campaign includes radio ads, a short video, and a host of fun marketing materials to encourage people to visit the site. Materials have been provided to members, labor recruitment agencies, school districts, teachers, and visitors at community events.
Iroquois has also worked with the Northeast New York Association for Health Care Recruitment and the New York State Department of Labor to host health care job and career fairs - free to members.
Working with community sponsors to highlight trends and issues in the health care industry and bring its workforce needs to the public, a 12-page health careers supplemental newspaper insert has been circulated across the Upstate region to promote job and career fairs, raise awareness about the diversity of health career opportunities, and describe the collaboration occurring between health care, business, and higher education.
Iroquois' efforts to pool resources and get the word out to communities across Upstate about the great opportunities in health care will assist our health care providers in building the pipeline of health care workers needed for the future.
